Weather it is a large commercial refrigerated life support system or aquarium it gives the greatest appearance when equipment is clean and well managed.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that established tank or aquarium is as alive as the animals it keeps alive. In establishing a tank you create in the biological filter of that aquarium a living bacteria that breaks down all the pollutants thrown out by the lobsters.
Balance is very important because the amount of bacteria in your system will raise and fall to accommodate the amount of animals in the tank. If the load level increased rapidly, bacteria will be out numbered, overrun and fast destroyed. |

All incoming animals should be inspected on damages and cracks. Questionable animals should be returned to its provider. After the animals should be dipped into a separate container with salt water (from the tank) and agitated before entering the tank. Purging animals removes debris from the their body and expels waste and undigested food from the internal system. |

Any type pf tank should be checked for foam
daily. Foam is a direct indicator of a dead or
dying animal. Any questionable animals and
associated foam must be removed immediately. In the cold water, the animals do not require feeding. DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS IN REFRIGIRATED LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS!!! Feeding the animals only pollutes life support system.
For exterior or interior tank cleaning never use chemical cleaners, soaps, spray detergents or any abrasives on any part of the system. In some cases a vinegar/water solution (3 tablespoons vinegar to a pint of water) may be used with a clean rag. |

Weekly check the level of ammonia, solidity, pH level and the temperature of the life support system. All of these parameters are interrelated and continuously affect each other. One weak parameter (for example high pH level) can lead to a snowball effect of rapid decrease in the quality of the tank environment.
Bi-Weekly filter replacement. Monthly replacement of activated carbon is important.
